Windsor Concours of Elegance, September 2012

This prestigious new event took place on 7 – 9th September 2012, celebrating the style and glamour of historic automobiles. In the unique setting of Windsor Castle, sixty of the world’s greatest motor cars were displayed for three days in the inner Quadrangle of our most historic Royal Castle, in celebration of six decades of Queen Elizabeth II’s reign.

‘Best in Show’ was awarded to Jon Shirley from America, for his 1938 Alfa Romeo 8C 2900B Touring Berlinetta. Pullman Gallery is pleased to have donated the winner’s trophy – working to our own design, John Elwell created the PULLMAN Trophy, standing almost 30 inches (75 cms) tall, the highly polished, engineering-grade sculpture depicts an Art Deco-inspired Pegasus ‘emerging’ from its plinth of seasoned walnut. John also sculpted a smaller version which was given to Jon Shirley to keep.

Georgina Khachadourian, at our sister gallery, Pullman Editions, designed and published the official Windsor Concours event poster (left). Principal house artist, Charles Avalon, has depicted the Castle’s legendary Long Walk adorned with some of the stunning motor cars that took part in the event. The original artwork was sold for £20,000 for the benefit of the event’s chosen charities. Limited-edition prints are available from www.pullmaneditions.com priced at £395 each, with proceeds also going to charity.
