J.A. Henckels of Solingen, Germany.
An extremely desirable portable ‘Zeppelin Airplane‘ bar set, the specialist creation of the German firm J.A.Henckels. Henckels’ innovative designs were inspired by the popularity of private flying during the 1920s, and a world thrilled by the achievements of Count Zeppelin’s fabled airships. Shown here is the rare 12 inch wingspan version of the earlier wingless Zeppelin design. The set is ingeniously designed so the tail-fin unscrews and the fuselage serves as the cocktail shaker. Inside is a large spirit flask, four shot cups, a strainer and juicer, funnel, corkscrew and nut dish, and under the fuselage a removable cover attached to the wheels contains four cocktail spoons. The wings serve as additional spirit flasks. German, circa 1920s.
Wingspan: 12 inches (30 cm)
