A ‘Trench Art’ presentation piece in the form of a hand grenade, hand-carved in bone, finely observed with pin detailing also carved in bone, the ‘grenade’ set on a wooden plinth with metal ball feet, with a Sterling silver plaque affixed, reading ‘Presented to Lieut H. G. Lynn, As a mark of Appreciation from Member’s of No.1 and 3 Platoons, 5th Battn C.L.N G, May 1917’. Bearing Chester hallmarks for 1916 and markers marks to the plaque of Robert Pringle and Sons of Chester.
