‘The 19th Hole’

(On left) an extremely unusual Sterling silver commemorative ‘Hole in One’ trophy in the form of a cup to house the ‘successful’ golf ball. With crossed clubs set to the front, the rim of the bowl is embossed ‘Hole in One Souvenir Dunlop Golf Ball’, mounted on a turned Bakelite plinth with applied silver plaque engraved ‘B.Adams, Bedford & County Golf Club 22–11– 31.’ Bearing Elkington & Company hallmarks and English date marks for 1931.

(On right) Udall & Ballou, of New York: a very impressive and rare clear Art Deco glass and Sterling silver-mounted cocktail shaker of baluster design with a fine overlaid wraparound frosted detail depicting a golf course with birds, water hazards and bunkers and the clubhouse with the legend ‘19th Hole’ in gothic script. The Sterling silver cap and strainer is stamped UDALL & BALLOU, STERLING. American, circa 1925.
