‘Spitfire’ Sterling silver cigarette case

Dingley Bros Silversmiths, Birmingham: a very stylish, engine-turned cigarette case dated 1945, with a large hand-painted panel applied to the front of a Spitfire in flight against a moody pink and blue sky. Hallmarked on the inside with Birmingham marks for 1945, with the panel applied later, and dating to around 1988, the inside of the case bearing a dedication ‘To John From Stella, 22.3.1946’. With its own bespoke, black calfskin presentation case.
Length of cigarette case: 5½ x 3½ inches (14 x 9 cms).
