Hamburg-Amerika Linie

A highly unusual and elegant French travel agents barometer, featuring the S/S ‘Imperator’, the German ocean liner (see next pages). Of hardwood construction with a glass painted panel with gilded details depicting the liner under full steam, this would have been used to promote crossings on the ship, after it was launched in 1912.

As so few crossings were made, and as ‘Imperator’ was renamed ‘Berengaria’ in 1920, we can accurately date this piece to 1913-1914.

Size: Height: 24 inches (61 cm) x 16½ inches (42 cm).
