Russian silver cigar box, 1889

A magnificent Imperial Russian silver trompe l’oeil cigar box of unusually large proportions, the hinged lid, sides, front and rear all superbly engraved to resemble taxation banding, manufacturers labels etc, including ‘AMERICAN JOCKEY CLUB’ a rare early brand of Havana cigars, made in St. Petersburg, 1889 by S. Grachev, the workmaster being Johan Ferdinand Olsonius, also bearing French silver poincons and import marks, Russian, 1889.
Length: overall 8½ inches (22 cms), depth 5½ inches (13.5 cms), height 5½ inches (13.5) & weight 1376 grams.
