A rare and very stylish metal paperweight or trinket box modelled as a zinc courier trunk, (of 1899 vintage). This was a VIP gift, made for special clients of Vuitton, and not made for retail, much like the iconic ‘Malle Fleurs’ of the 1920s. This paperweight bears all the fine details of the life-size trunks; from the wooden slats, brass handles and locks, latches, nails and buckles, with faux luggage label for the Hotel Lafayette-Brevoort applied to the front, the fully working lid hinges open reveal the Vuitton ‘label’ within. Comes complete with its original Vuitton gift box and miniature information booklet. Of recent, limited manufacture by Louis Vuitton, Paris.
