Louis Vuitton, Paris: a massive ‘Malle Haute Courier’ in the ‘Damier’ (checkered) pattern with leather trim, brass corners and wooden slats, with the original owner’s initials of ‘G.H.B’ in black, set within a red triangle to both ends, the interior complete with all five original linen trays. French, circa 1885.

Length: 48 inches (120 cm)
Height: 27 inches (70 cm)
Depth: 25 inches (65 cm).

Note: Only the second example of a Damier ‘Malle Haute Courier’ recorded, this is the largest standard trunk made by Vuitton at 48 inches in length and is in impeccable condition throughout.
