Leslie Arthur Wilcox, R.I, R.S.M.A (British, 1904-1982).

An original oil on canvas painting circa 1970, depicting a 1902 Renault touring car with its passengers enjoying a drive in a rural setting. Set within its original frame, and unglazed.

Size overall: 30 x 26 inches (76 x 66 cm).

Leslie Wilcox was an eminent marine artist and was elected to the Royal Society of Marine Artists in 1947. For many years he was the painting partner of Terence Cuneo (1907-1996), of whose style this work is highly reminiscent.
