‘Danginn’, a superb and unique Sterling silver gilt, gem-set cigar box, the cover engraved with a map of the Mediterranean Sea with various ports of call identified with a diamond or sapphire star, including Venice, Athens and Beirut, the front engraved ‘DANGINN – NOVEMBER 26-DECEMBER 18 1960’, and bearing eight facsimile signatures. American, 1961.

Additional Notes: The motor-yacht ‘Danginn’ was commissioned and built by billionaire ship-owner Daniel K Ludwig in 1960. At a cost of $3,000,000 and a length of 264’, ‘Danginn’ was the largest yacht afloat at the time, whose guest list was effectively a roll call of the 1950’s and 1960’s jet-set – Princess Margaret, the Aga Khan, David Niven, Clark Gable, Frank Sinatra were all regular visitors, The Tiffany box offered here commemorates her maiden voyage, the signatures being the inaugural guests who presumably collaborated to commission the box as a thank-you gift for Daniel Ludwig.
