A pair of highly unusual, (and monumentally large) Chinese cocktail shakers, one configured as a set with 9 gilt-lined cups, and both heavily plated and profusely decorated with scenes of dragons, made by the Kut Hing factory of Swatow (now known as Shantou), a city on the east coast of Guangdong.
Swatow literally translates to ‘mountain head’ and the majority of the products made in this region were heavily decorated, the most popular of all themes being dragons. Chinese, circa 1920s.
Height of shakers: 14 inches (36 cm)
