Geze ‘Fix’: a pair of German WWII paratrooper’s folding skis of very lightweight wood and galvanised steel construction, with leather bindings, cleverly ‘scissoring’ open after the trooper has landed, and when closed easily packed within a kit bag. Bearing a stamped serial number of 7308, with inscribed maker’s marks to the boot plate.

Complete with a pair of matched ski poles, of wood, leather and metal construction, of the same period. German, circa 1940s.

One of the best examples of a 19th century hand-carved solid walnut stick (or umbrella) stand from the hilly wooden region east of the Rhine Valley commonly known as the Black Forest, rendered in the form of a whimsical black bear, equipped with climbing rope and ice pick.
