Cartier for Dunhill ‘Unique Sports’ lighter, 1930s

A superior Sterling silver ‘Unique Sports‘ lighter, circa 1930s, owing its origins to an imaginative Anglo-French affiliation between Dunhill and Cartier, whose commitment to quality on both sides of the Channel (and beyond) is second to none. The lift-arm is marked DUNHILL and the base imprinted CARTIER, SWISS MADE, and STERLING. The face of the lighter is suitably decked with three maritime signal flags, denoting the letters H.P.L, the initials of the fortunate recipient of this clearly, bespoke commission. Complete with a tooled green leather Cartier presentation case.
