Tantalus set with padlock by Tiffany, 1905

A beautifully conceived Sterling silver Tantalus frame designed by Tiffany, featuring a pair of cut crystal decanters of ovoid form made by American glassmaker Hawkes. Each decanter bears the maker’s etched crystal mark to the base and the frame is signed Tiffany & Co., Sterling Silver with registration mark S1625.

The decanters are accessed via lifting the central handle which raise the stoppers, and it locks via a fully-functioning Sterling silver‘Sweetheart’ padlock with its original key. American, circa 1905.

Tiffany, founded in the 19th century by the foremost artist and designer Louis Comfort Tiffany, is synonymous with the finest in American luxury goods.
