Alfred Dunhill lighters, 1926-1930

Alfred Dunhill, London: a very rare 1929 Sterling silver Unique 'Golf ball' lighter, the spherical body of the lighter has profuse and very fine engine turning, the lower section unscrews for filling. Fully hallmarked and stamped to the curved underside DUNHILL UNIQUE LIGHTER, REG. No. 744395, Pat. No. 143792.

A silver-plated 'Half Giant' table lighter, with engine turned decoration, with unusual corners and side panels in a contrasted pattern, also fully marked for Dunhill and dated circa 1930.

Alfred Dunhill, London: an extremely rare 1926 example of the Sterling silver lighter design known as the ‘Unique’, the body of this particular variation has a hinged window, which encloses a perpetual calendar comprising of seven celluloid or Bakelite leaves, each inscribed with the months and days of the week, along with another fixed writing tablet, for reminders or notes. Fitted to the base of the lighter is a propelling pencil, for writing upon the tablets. This Sterling silver example of the iconic Dunhill design bears the Hallmarks for William Frederick Wright, the London silversmith, who produced many of Dunhill’s most luxurious products from 1919-1926. A hand engraved dedication to the original owner (presumably) features on the reverse. Complete with a fitted calfskin Dunhill presentation case.
