Saunders and Shepherd: a very unusual and early Sterling silver matched condiment set in the form of three Chess pieces – the mustard pot in the form of a Rook, with hinged lid and spoon, (hallmarked London, 1886) the pepper pot in the form of a Bishop (Hallmarked, Birmingham, 1887), and the salt shaker in the form of a Knight (also Birmingham 1887).

Each Bearing maker’s marks for Saunders and Shepherd and Registration number 73907 and set in a two-door burgundy calfskin presentation case.

Height of tallest piece: 3 inches (8 cms).
