Art Deco vase by Henry Rapin, 1936

Price Code: SOLD

Reference: 3325

A massive Art Deco porcelain vase and cover by Henry Rapin (1873 – 1939) of ovoid form with celadon glaze ground and delicate floral Art Deco design by Jean Beaumont, executed by Charles Fritz, the base with correct 1936 marks for Sèvres.

Dimensions: Height 19 inches (47 cms).

Note: Henri Rapin was arguably the most influential ceramic designer of the Art Deco period, and was artistic director of Sèvres for over 20 years. The form of this vase is known as the Vase Rapin 21, considered to me his quintessential Art Deco design, designed for and introduced at, the Art Deco exhibition of 1925 in Paris. This particular example was made in 1936 and is finished in the desirable celadon green glaze with a high Art Deco floral design.
