'Sulky' horse racing trophy, 1929
A large and impressive 1929 silver-plated Harness Racing trophy, depicting the trotting horse and its driver (not jockey!) on the cart (known as a ‘Sulky’ or bike) behind, mounted on an inscribed base and polished mahogany plinth. Inscribed ‘Zur Freundlichen Errinnerung, November 1929 Brauerei Kalterhausen’. Austrian, 1929.
Length: 23 inches (58 cms).
Additional Notes: Sulky racing is a hugely popular sport all around the world, particularly in Europe and the USA. The premier race is considered to be the Prix d’Amerique, held every January in Paris with prize money of several million Euros.
