'Trench Art'

A large 1917 silver-plated ‘Trench-Art’ model of a Vickers machine gun, with ammunition and water can, set on an oak display base. The gun set on a fully-adjustable tripod stand, the base with 2 fixed large ammo-case trinket boxes. Badged to the Machine Gun Corps, the badge is actually a removable silver sweetheart brooch, stamped and dated 'WJB FRANCE 1914-1917'. All brass on an ebonized wooden plinth.

A WW1 all-silvered ‘Trench Art’ Browning M1917 A1 water-cooled machine gun model, the well detailed gun set on an adjustable tripod stand, and mounted on a triangular ebonized wooden plinth, with miniature fed ammunition and 20 cal cartridge box attached to the side, and water canister fed by a screw-threaded rubber hose. With movable sight and elevator, and bearing a plaque flanked by two bullets with three US Army buttons and stamped ‘BROWNING US M1917 AI MACHINE GUN’.

Notes: M1917A1 had a firing rate of 450 to 600 round/min.
