‘Supermarine S6B Schneider Trophy’, 1931

Saunders and Shepherd: a Sterling silver model of a Supermarine S6B Schneider Trophy seaplane, English, dated 1931. Hallmarked Saunders and Shepherd and detailed with an articulated rudder, elevators, ailerons and a rotating propeller. Originally fitted in a stalk mount, now mounted on a black ebonized base.

Dimensions: Wingspan 7 inches (18½ cms).

Additional Notes: The Supermarine S5, S6 and S6b Seaplanes won the Schneider Trophy outright with victories in 1927, 1929 and 1931, their Chief designer R J Mitchell went on to design the Supermarine Spitfire.
