Overlaid Sterling silver hipflasks

(Right) Gorham MFG Co, of Providence, USA: a very stylish Sterling silver overlaid glass-bodied hipflask, with ornate pierced overlay, bayonet cap, and removable ¼ pint gilt-lined silver drinking cup fitted to the lower half, the central cartouche with monogram E.S.E, bearing makers marks, STERLING, and registration mark to the base. American, circa 1871.

(Left) Black Starr & Frost, USA: an extraordinarily large Sterling silver hipflask by the American maker Black Starr & Frost, the glass body of the flask overlaid with a pierced foliate design, with the fixed lower section with large (vacant) cartouche, perfect for a monogram. With bayonet cap fitting, and a cork-lined mushroom hinged cap. American, circa 1905. Stamped BLACK STARR FROST STERLING to the base.
