A superb and very heavy silver pitcher or jug by Emile Puiforcat in the form of a lady’s head. Her long, plaited hair forming the handle of the jug, and bearing French poinçon marks to the underside. A masterpiece of 19th century French silver.

Height: 13 inches (33 cms)

The House of Puiforcat were known mostly for their flatware, and expanded into decorative tableware and items such as this monumental jug, platters and centrepieces, in the 1880s.
