St. Moritz pocket barometer by Asprey, 1913

A presentation Sterling silver pocket barometer, the hinged cover inscribed ‘St. Moritz Curling Club, 1914’. Fully hallmarked for Asprey & Co, London, 1913.

Diameter: 2¼ inches (6 cms).


Additional Notes: The St. Moritz Curling Club was founded as early as December 1880. During the previous winter Johannes Badrutt had received a set of curling stones from some Scottish friends. In the winter of 1880-1881 two curling rinks had been swept free of snow on the frozen lakes of St. Moritz and smoothed with self-made ice planers.
