Louis Vuitton 'Malle Outils' (Toolbox)

Louis Vuitton, Paris: a magnificent and very rare “Malle Outils” of unusual form with central LV 'shield' lock and curved lid. The ‘Malle Outils’ would have contained the chauffeur’s tools and other essential equipment, and would have been mounted on the running board of a pre-WW1 limousine. French, circa 1920.

Louis Vuitton, Paris: a magnificent, early and large 'Malle Outils' (tool box), superbly constructed in Cuban mahogany with brass trim including Vuitton 'shield' lock and hinges and double flange closure enabling the contents to remain dust-free, the interior of this trunk with its original mahogany dividers. French, circa 1910.
