‘Le Mans, 1925’

An incredibly well observed and atmospheric gouache and ink painting on artists’ board, depicting the No.9 Bentley driven by the John F. Duff and Frank Clement, being led by the Sunbeam no. 16 of Jean Chessagne and Sammy Davis with the No. 2 Chenard & Walcker driven by André Lagache and René Leonard in front.

Signed ‘F. Gordon Crosby’ and ‘Le Mans’ and to the reverse through a window mount the date in pencil 26.6.1925 and framed with a quadruple thick acid-free mount with a classic gilded frame.

Framed size: 27 x 33 inches (69 x 84 cms).

Provenance: The James Barron Collection, London.
