A striking crayon and watercolour study of a car at speed, with a plane overhead, by Georges Hamel (1900-1972) better known as Geo Ham, one of the great French illustrators and posters artists.

A lifelong aficionado of the automobile, Ham’s powers of observation and intuition are seen at their most impressive in the depiction of the 5th Grand Prix of Monaco, in 1933. One of the most established names, his highly individualistic style, so much part of the period, has many followers.

Framed and glazed.
